About The Fertility Law Firm

Lesa Slaughter’s personal experience as an Intended Parent through gestational surrogacy and combined with over 15 years as an attorney in the areas of in litigation and corporate matters make Lesa uniquely qualified to advise others who are creating their families through surrogacy, egg donation and embryo donation. Lesa left large law firm life after becoming a mother to twins Brock and Eva through gestational surrogacy to open her own law firm, which quickly grew to become the Fertility Law Firm, a California based legal practice focused on third party reproduction, surrogacy, egg donation and embryo donation matters. Lesa has helped hundreds of Intended Parents, from all over the globe start their family through third party reproduction. Equally as important is Lesa’s representation of the surrogates, embryo donors and egg donors, who make the path to parenthood possible for so many.

The Fertility Law Firm’s client centered approach involves educating clients on the legal and the practical issues involved in when entering into a gestational surrogacy, egg donation or embryo donation process. Combining client education with Lesa’s vigorous representation and protection of her clients during the entire process yields confident clients who start their path through the third party process educated and empowered. This client-centered approach to law has resulted in a law firm that runs extensively on repeat and referral business and a long list of friends that were originally clients.
Receiving her undergraduate degree from New York University, Lesa went on to get her doctorate of law from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, California, where she received a number of academic awards. Lesa then began her practice of law with the international firm of Skadden, Arps, and Slate & Meagher LLP where she honed her corporate and litigation skills in representing large private and Fortune 500 companies on a number of international and domestic matters.

Lesa has also served as in house legal counsel for two large private California real estate companies and as an Adjunct Professor to her alma mater of Loyola Law School. Lesa also has considerable political experience having served three former Los Angeles Mayors, first as Chief of Staff to former Mayor Richard Riordan, and as a Commissioner under Mayors Hahn and Villagarosa.

A leader in her field, Lesa has been a featured speaker on the issue of gestational surrogacy both nationally and internationally. Licensed in California, she is a member of the California State Bar, the American Bar Association’s Assisted Reproductive Technologies subsection, and the Society for Ethics for Egg Donation and Surrogacy (SEEDS). She and her twins, Brock and Eva along with the family dogs, Truman and Churchill, reside in Woodland Hills, California.
